Yes! - positive reinforcement is a major foundation of our training approach and is incorporated heavily into our programs. We believe in rewarding desired behaviors and building engagement, confidence, and clear communication between dog and owner. At the same time, we do not limit ourselves to a single training philosophy. We utilize a balanced approach rooted in all four quadrants of operant conditioning when appropriate and necessary for the individual dog. Every dog learns differently, and our goal is to create fair, effective, and humane training plans tailored to each dogs needs and goals.
-
Yes — we use prong collars and e-collars as corrective tools when they’re appropriate for a specific dog and situation. We do not use every tool on every dog; that’s not how they’re intended to be used. What works for one dog may not work for another, and each tool is carefully introduced and conditioned to the individual dog under the guidance of a qualified trainer to ensure safe, effective, and humane use. Our goal is always to choose the least intrusive method that achieves reliable, lasting results.

Training timelines vary depending on the dog’s age, breed, temperament, and the complexity of the skills being taught. Basic obedience (sit, stay, recall, loose-leash walking) typically takes 4–12 weeks of consistent daily practice to see reliable results. Puppy socialization and foundational skills start immediately and continue intensively through the first 4–6 months. Advanced skills, behavior modification, or service work can take several months to a year or more. Progress is fastest with short, frequent training sessions, clear rewards, and consistency from all household members. Regular reinforcement over the dog’s lifetime keeps skills sharp.

We work with a wide range of dog breeds, from small companion dogs to large working breeds. Our services are tailored to breed-specific needs, including high-energy herding breeds, scent-driven hounds, intelligent and eager-to-please retrievers, sturdy mastiffs, and compact toy breeds. We also train mixed-breed dogs and rescue dogs, adapting techniques to each dog’s temperament, size, and activity level. Whether your dog needs basic obedience, advanced skills, behavior modification, or sport-specific training, we customize our approach to fit the breed’s strengths and challenges.

Yes — we work with aggressive and reactive dogs. Our trainers use science-based, humane methods tailored to each dog’s needs, focusing on safety, clear communication, and gradual behavior change. We begin with a thorough assessment, create a customized plan that may include management strategies, desensitization and counterconditioning, and caregiver coaching, and monitor progress with regular adjustments. Safety for dogs, handlers, and the public is always a priority; we teach practical skills you can apply at home to reduce triggers and build confidence. If your dog is showing aggression or reactivity, we’re prepared to help with compassionate, effective support.
